Van Riel Counselling
Van Riel Counselling is committed to protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal and personal health information. All information is handled in accordance with Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA, 2004) and the standards of practice of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
We collect only the information necessary to provide counselling services. This may include your name, contact details, and relevant personal or health information shared during counselling sessions.
All counselling services are confidential. Information may only be disclosed without consent when required by law, including situations involving risk of serious harm, suspected child abuse, or a court order.
Records are stored securely using appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards. Access is limited to authorized individuals only.
You have the right to request access to your records and to request corrections where appropriate, in accordance with PHIPA.
If services are provided virtually, secure platforms are used; however, electronic communication carries some inherent risks.
